Tennessee Aquarium Butterfly Garden, Chattanooga, Tennessee


Butterflies (and moths) are unique in that their entire bodies are covered with overlapping scales -- much like shingles on a roof. These scales are so thin that it would take more than half a million of these scales stacked up to be an inch tall.
